On 4th August The Litas Plymouth held a Mighty Quiz to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research UK which was kindly hosted by Karen and Robin at Chequered Flag Cafe. But this was more than just a mere quiz. Us ladies put in a mighty effort riding our motorbikes for several hours to different local businesses collecting raffle prizes and organising the event.
Josie Sloan the founder of The Litas Plymouth and the main organiser chose Alzheimer’s Research UK as this is something which has affected her personally. Her grandad Neil currently has the disease and her gran also showed early signs before she passed away.
But unfortunately this a disease which affects so many, with 850,000 people suffering with dementia in the UK and numbers looking to rise (Alzheimer’s Society). Research is key to defeating this disease so donations & fundraising are essential.
The event was a great success with several teams turning up to partake with the hope of winning the £100 cash prize, courtesy of The Litas lady Helen and her company Doorstuff. 
Not to mention the raffle with it’s abundance of awesome prizes all kindly donated by local businesses. From CBT’s and food hampers to bottles of beer and tattoo vouchers. A huge thank you to everyone for their very generous donations. Plus to top it all off a sweepstake which saw winners take home tickets for family days out and cinema vouchers, again all donated this time by Donna Aston.
The night was finished off with a close call of points between the teams in which an unusual challenge was set to gain some last minute bonus points. The plank challenge!
The final winners of the quiz were The Budweizers, scooping up the very delightful £100 prize between them.
All in all, a great evening for everyone who came and for those who managed to win the prizes that were on offer. But most importantly a huge well done to Josie who with her efforts of organising the event managed to raise a grand total of £1031 for Alzheimer’s Research UK. A brilliant result and great team effort from all The Litas ladies (& husbands/boyfriends).
